Our three working students Paula, Claire, and Moritz (pictured from left to right) in an interview with Nicole on the Commax studio sofa.
An authentic look behind the scenes.
What led to your application at Commax?
Claire: I got to know Commax during my previous internship at Vodafone and have been a working student here since November 2023.
Moritz: I was connected through a Commax employee established. The first conversation was a great fit for both sides: After about two hours, my employment contract was signed, and I’ve been with Commax for more than 2 years now.
Paula: I followed Commax on LinkedIn and then applied on my own initiative. A get-to-know-you meeting quickly took place – everything went smoothly. I started at Commax in July 2024. It feels like longer.
What appeals to you about Commax?
Moritz: The whole atmosphere in the office is quite relaxed, a family-like environment. I simply appreciate the camaraderie in the office and the close collaboration with colleagues.
Claire: The collaboration with the Commax consultants during my previous work at Vodafone impressed me. I was able to experience, almost from a client’s perspective, how Commax works. Now I am part of the Commax team and feel very welcome, even with my business psychology background.
Paula: I can agree with both points: The content and atmosphere simply fit for me!
What did you hope for from your working student position at Commax... and how does your reality check turn out?
Paula: At the end of my studies, I wanted to actively participate in client projects in the role of an employee. And that’s indeed the case. Another wish was to create real added value. And that’s also possible in this family-like environment and with flat hierarchies. I can directly approach anyone at Commax… regardless of their level… discuss topics and ask my questions.
Claire: I wanted diverse and complex activities. And that is indeed fulfilled at Commax. I work on projects directly interfacing with clients. I have a lot of freedom to independently work on concepts to work on. I really like that – including coordination and feedback.
Moritz: Back then, I was simply looking for a job. I can’t remember my specific expectations anymore.
What is your scope of work at Commax?
Moritz: I started with 9 hours and now work flexibly between 15-20 hours.
Claire: I work an average of 7 hours per week.
Paula: I work 16 hours on two fixed days. I can change my working days depending on my semester schedule. If needed, I also work more sometimes. The balance always works well, e.g., during exam periods. Commax is very flexible.

What are your tasks like - what has been your highlight so far?
Moritz: Administrative tasks, such as invoicing, scheduling, and training organization are part of my responsibilities. Additionally, due to my computer science studies, I am a technical point of contact in many areas active: For example, as part of a pitch, I expanded the AR portfolio by building mock-ups, maintained and acquired new technical equipment, and contributed to the website. My highlight is when I content from my studies applycan.
Claire: Diverse – my focus is on training concept development: design, methodology, and didactics of various qualification measures… with everything that entails, e.g., handout design, glossary, etc. There were concepts that I was allowed to develop ‘from scratch’. My activities also include research on training topics. My highlight so far was being present live at the self-designed training.
Paula: I was allowed to develop the structure and rough content for a leadership development program. My highlight was that this program was very well received by the client. I was also allowed to assist in the creation of pitch documents. That was sometimes stressful, but still cool to be involved.
If other working students are interested in a working student position at Commax... what should they know from your perspective?
Paula: One should know that Commax is structured according to the key account principle. So, one primarily works with a specific team and its clients.
Claire: One should definitely bring initiative, proactivity, and agile thinking. And be open to feedback.
Moritz: One should know that Commax is family-like is. That was an adjustment for me – but a positive one. And Commax likes to celebrate. My highlights are the Christmas parties and the joint Wiesn visit.
